When I was eight years old, I went to
prison. At the age of nine they didn't know what to do
with me, so they put me in adult prison for another four
years. By 17 I'd been expelled from public schools and
was in a charter school where Boomerang was
being held. I sat in the back of the room with my black
hoodie over my head and never said a word. At the end of
the three days I knew this was for real, and even I
stood a chance of getting my life back. After that I
went to night school and made up three and a half years
of high school credits in six months. Then I got
certified as an electrician. I don’t know where I’d be
if it weren't for Boomerang and Andre and
Jeannette who believed in me and always knew I could do
it. My big dream is to help other kids stay out of
prison.
